I'll probably get banned for posting a Nickelback song Tongue but this is the best thing I've ever heard from them, and the guitar riff sounds a bit like prog metal

I kinda dig it. Comes out June 9th

^ Nickelback is an important band to me as they were one of my main gateways acts to rock and metal music. I don't listen to them too much now but I have fond memories of their stuff and have never understand why they are so hated.

Anyway, Royal Thunder have a new one on the way, dropping on April 7th.

^What a disappointment after Sultan's Curse. It's just overly poppy and is actually probably the worst song Mastodon's released thus far. It sounds like a hit single on alternative rock radio rather than anything a metal band would actually release.

New War Device:

Now this is some kick-ass old school death-thrash, Jonas would probably like this.

Sweet, the new Aeternam album is out! I loved their first two albums, Arabian-sounding death metal.

Looks like you can order the physical cd from bandcamp:

New Vandroya is coming late April:

Hyped as hell for that one!

Also, another new Ayreon song:

I will listen to it in a bit,  because I have stuff to do soon and I'd rather not have to tear myself away from it after just one listen.

Vandroya, nice. It's about time.

I'll listen to the Ayreon song when I'm done with the album I'm on.

Finally listened to it, now on my third listen. This one feels like Arjen's attempt to break the record for how much he can fit into under 5 minutes: Pretty much, you're not going to catch everything in one or two goes, because it moves so fast. It is in fact awesome, though, and this album has serious potential to be my favorite prog album since The Human Equation, so I hope the whole thing is as good as the two tracks released so far, and I don't have much reason to doubt it will be.

Another quality release from the mighty I, Voidhanger Records on the way. Steaming on Bandcamp now.

http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/album/locust-leaves/a-subtler-kind-of-light

I mostly hear black metal from this label but this one is more of a very varied progressive metal release. There's some real technical stuff, blackened stuff, fast paced stuff, death metal, and even some ambient here. Overall very nice.

Just got a news email from Napalm Records that said they've signed Seven Kingdoms so I should finally get to hear their latest album now. And hopefully they'll be doing their own batch of promos for it.

The awesome cover art makes me want to believe it's going to be a sludge metal masterpiece harking back to the glory days of Blood Mountain. Sadly it's most likely going to continuing in the direction they've been in though.

An essential purchase for me but anyone know why the vinyls so expensive? okay it's a double but nearly £30 on amazon! Going to wait and see if it turns up cheaper anywhere nearer the release date before ordering it.

Digital of this may be already out (it's on streaming at the very least). CD release is next week. Some pretty solid black/doom metal (little more black than doom to my ears). Not the most instantly mindblowing release from my current go-to label I, Voidhanger Records but as usual I dig this new one from them.

As I don't buy vinyl I don't know what normal price would be. I've seen some pretty expensive ones before though.

Maybe 3rd party Amazon sellers will have cheaper copies available once its out. You can't never tell in advance since Amazon doesn't allow 3rd party pre-orders.

From the press release:

'if you get the special Mediabook edition of the album, it comes with a 2nd CD entitled "No Grave But The Sea for Dogs", which contains the entire album except all the vocals have been replaced by a dog barking. We can guarantee you won't listen to the whole thing, it's spectacularly bad.'

It doesn't appear that this is just an Alestorm joke either but a real thing.

Well to put it in some sort of perspective the new Pallbearer LP which is also a double is available for pre-order on Amazon for £17.99.

Well Amazon often does put stupidly high prices up at first only for them to drop closer to the actual release date.
