Wintersun's second album has been delayed so many times.
They've played this new song live though. |

Haven't really gotten any 2011 albums yet :o But I'm really looking forward to Opeth, Anthrax, Megadeth, Testament, Dream Theater and Mastodon releases!

Well, after listening to Deconstruction again (I bought the CD finally), it is now my favorite of 2011.

Starting to actaully work my way though some 2011 releases. Disma's Towards the Megalith is quite good. SubRosa's No Help for the Mighty Ones is absolutely phenomenal. Negura Bunget's EP is really good but in general I find EPs too short to consider for a "top of" list.
Going to grab up YOB's Atma ASAP Edited by Triceratopsoil - 11 Aug 2011 at 11:05am |

I've only heard four metal albums from 2011 so far: Symphony X - Iconoclast : not a very good "progressive" metal album, but a really good album in the traditional sense. Russell Allen really channels Ronnie James Dio on a number of songs.
Warrant - Rockaholic : OK glam metal outing, but nothing as memorable as their DRSFR and Cherry Pie days.
Devin Townsend - Deconstruction : I will need to listen to again, but really not impressed about songs about masturbation and involving people vomiting. Musically it is quite good.
Tesla - Twisted Wires : not sure if this counts as a new album or not, as there are only 2 new songs and the rest are reworked acoustic versions of older songs. I really enjoy this album.
Presto Ballet's new album Invisible Places and the EP Love What You've Done To The Place are now ordered. Edited by rushfan4 - 11 Aug 2011 at 10:37am |

I'm beginning to get the impression that "best new metal" is synonymous with "Profound Lore Records"

I wouldn't mind betting that list will have changed radically once the glut of Prog Metal releases has occurred over the next two months |

I'm sure it will! And I'm sure I'll add the new Unexpect, Falls of Rauros, and Leprous albums once I finally review those. All are excellent!

Yob's Atma fuckin' kicks so much ass. My favourite track is the one with Scott Kelly guesting vocals, although a friend of mine who is a huge fan of both Yob and Neurosis didn't like that one.

This one seems to get better all the time, I've been holding off reviewing it because of that. May even get into the 4.5 star range.

You guys both have some stuff in common with mine.
This is still a WIP: http://rateyourmusic.com/list/adg211288/2011_albums Lot of stuff in both your lists that I'm definitely interested in hearing.

I've still got (counts on fingers) at least 12 more albums I have to hear before I can make such a list.
