I got so used to calling it football from PA (even if I didn't go out of my way to say Soccer they would just have to correct me on it) and "handegg" makes me giggle anyway.
You are right Dan, it does make cheap easy fun and for "backyard" play football is much safer than handegg. At Uni when it would rain and things would get all muddy and messy we'd play handegg and while it's cheap and easy (you dont even need a net) we obviously weren't wearing helmets or pads and would play tackle (because cmon we're men!) and....well I am not a big guy |

Eh I'm used to it, that is pretty much the #1 comeback.
Not really anything to say, people still die in American Football (sadly) though not at the NFL level, a few years ago it almost happened though and was saved thanks to quick medics, and at ALL levels people still get paralyzed and etc This one HS kid in my area is paralyzed from the neck down. I always wanted to know how big these rugby guys are and how hard do they play? What are the injuries like? Because if they are as big and fast and violent as handegg players and don't wear gear...well fuck, they are insane! Most players have tons of health issues in their post career, so I think they may object to being called sissies It's sad to see guys back in the day who could destroy other teams now be confined to a wheelchair, or this one doesn't even remember winning the Super Bowl he's had so many concussions Edited by The Angry Scotsman - 14 Dec 2011 at 11:51am |

Sorry for hijacking this thread but I guess Rugby is a form of football
Basketball was invented by a rugby coach in 1891 - Dr. James Naismith was looking for an indoor activity to provide winter conditioning for his rugby players. Famous rugby players (just to name a few): Sean Connery, John F. Kennedy, J.R.R. Tolkien, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Russell Crowe, Chris Farley, Meat Loaf, Ernesto Che Guevara |

...and this guy (Jonah Lomu) a New Zealand winger was nearly 20 stones/126 kgs when he played.
He could also run 100 metres in 10.8 seconds The guy above would refer to his back as a "girl" Mainly because the forwards would regard themselves as the hard men of the team |

Did anyone see this?
What a stupid ass "fan". I heard he got a 30 year "not welcome" on Amstardam arena and violence charges from the police too. I wonder what will happen to the goalkeeper. I understand he felt the need to defend himself, but I dont think it was necessary to kick the man while he was laying on the ground...and twice!!! Not the best case.

Extraordinary!
Well, final evidence for me that the world is officially mad and the tree huggers and human rights activists have won the day. Where has the right to defend yourself gone? This is just fuckin crazy. Believe me, if I was in the keepers shoes the guy would have left the stadium in an ambulance. ....but what happens? The guy who is assaulted is shown the red card like its his fault......you couldn't make it up! I totally understand his reaction. |

I understand his reaction, but once the man is on the ground its hardly self-defense anymore?
