The song is pretty good, but you can barely hear Floor for about half the chorus, because whoever did the mix must have sabotaged her, as usual, LOL

I haven't played it yet and I'm already disappointed.
I listened Human. :||: Nature. again and it looks like for some odd reason I gave it four stars off my one listen years ago but that's had to be halved after the relisten. Even 2 still seems generous to be honest. I spent the whole thing wondering what Tuomas was thinking.

Well this is unexpected, Blind Guardian has re-recorded Somewhere Far Beyond and it will be released in August as a limited three disc set (re-recorded album on CD1, live version of the whole album on CD2 and blu-ray as the third disc) as well as standard and digital editions.
They've done a music video for The Quest for Tanelorn: And I'm not too impressed. I mean it's Blind Guardian so it sounds good but it doesn't sound as good as the original does. It feels more polished and slick but this actually makes the song lose something and I expect that's going to be true of the entire release if this is anything to judge by.

Video for this comes on later but for now the song is already up:
This is probably my least favourite so far, but Simone's solo album is shaping up to be a very eclectic affair: all three songs dropped so far are very different and if you thought having Mark Jansen on this track would make it sound like Epica, you'd be very wrong. Some strong industrial vibes here.

I´ll give it a shot, but I can´t seem to enjoy Nile as much anymore after Dallas left. His vocals were unique.

Yeah, I'm not really sure what they're trying to do with this album: It just sounds like a bunch of random songs that belong on different albums, with no coherency whatsoever, at least so far. I do like all the singles, though, so maybe the full album will make more sense, lol

Presume this means we're getting a new one sooner than anticipated unless it's just a random, non-album single:
Hope there's more inbound soon though because this is killer! Arch Enemy always seems to be to be a band that does a really good album followed by one that's not so hot, and it's the turn of the not so hot one on that pattern, but this is really promising! Also, new one from Lovebites, one of five new tracks from the upcoming Lovebites EP II. One of those songs that for me was better on the second listen. Had that happen with their stuff sometimes before dispute them rapidly becoming one of my most played bands.

Mikael Akerfeldt is actually growling again, and it still sounds as great as ever!

Oldpeth is back!
I've actually quite enjoyed their recent works and as far as I'm concerned the last one counted as metal enough to be called a prog metal album but if this is indictive of what the whole album will sound like I'm beyond hyped.

Opeth rarely disappoint. In Cauda Venenum was their best since they ditched the growls imo. Be interesting to see how much the growls feature on the new album but I've a hunch it may be more in the Ghost Reveries style of prog metal.

I re-listened to Pale Communion last night, and liked it far more than I did before, so I'll probably do Sorceress tonight and then finally give In Cauda Venenum a listen, since I actually never got around to that one yet, despite it being the most popular of their last few albums. The new track definitely got me hyped.

Pale Communion was the one that took the longest to click with me. I like it a fair bit now.
I really enjoyed In Cauda Venenum. There's more metal on it that Sorceress. I'd say it's as much a prog metal album as it is prog rock though obviously a different kind than what will now be thought of as their classic era. I think Mikael said the Swedish lyrics are actually the true album but I tend to go for English first personally. Worth listening to in both versions though. I don't listen to the prog rock era Opeth as much overall, my first reach will typically always be either Still Life, Blackwater Park or Ghost Reveries, but unlike some other bands who changed their sound Opeth never completely lost me. With that said the hype for the new one is real.

Yeah, I'll always prefer their classic sound, but the new albums are much better than I remembered them being, with In cauda Venenum being easily the best. I thought the album as a whole still leaned more towards prog rock, but there were definitely some more metallic tracks there, especially the first two full songs and Charlatan.
Speaking of bands who have NOT aged well: WTF even is this? At this point, you can just laugh and/or cry at what they've become, compared to their classic albums

I mean it's not horrible but...ever get the impression Tuomas has lost the plot? Maybe it works better in context of the whole album and as such really, really should not be picked as a single. Not that Nightwish has the best track record with songs to pick as singles. I've never forgotten when they first got Annette in after kicking Tarja out and everyone was waited with anticipation for what the new singer would sound like and they go and choose Eva of all tracks they possibly could have picked from Dark Passion Play to introduce her. The gentle ballad.
I will say that Perfume of the Timeless has been growing on me, but nothing's going to change the production and mixing issues. I can't say I honestly expect to buy this album when it comes out whereas so far Opeth and Simone are must have's.
