I'm not quite a jazz / jazz fusion lover, but every now and then I revisit some Miles Davis albums, for example. Right now playing Nefertiti and can't say I'm much impressed - the only album I've really enjoyed is In a Silent Way. Mahavishnu Orchestra's debut album I really like, great album. Also dig the first Billy Cobham solo albums. Should explore more this kind of music.

Miles Davis is great - I've really been getting into his stuff lately. I listened to A Tribute to Jack Johnson last night, and that is really great stuff! I don't have the first Mahavishnu album (I have the second), and I completely agree that the first few Cobham albums are great. I especially love Spectrum, which is possibly my favorite jazz album. Do you have any Herbie Hancock stuff? His classic albums are pretty good... |

Not sure have I ever heard Hancock's solo stuff, I think that's a musician whose solo stuff I should check out. Any specific recommendations?
And while we're at it, I think Chick Corea is another I should explore. |

Well I don't have all of these, but Herbie's most acclaimed albums are Crossings, Sextant, Head Hunters, and Thrust. The only stuff I have from Chick Corea is the album I purchased earlier today and his work with Miles Davis (I think)... |

As far as Chick Corea goes:
Return To Forever - Light As A Feather Return To Forever - Romantic Warrior Chick Corea - My Spanish Heart The Chick Corea Elektric Band has some cool stuff, though it has a very 80's sound (except for To The Stars). I like J-Man's Herbie Hancock suggestions, though I don't have Sextant. Mwandishi and Maiden Voyage are two other good ones. |

For those interested, they play "pop / neofolk with limited singing and playing skills" as they say themselves, and includes members from Circle of Ouroborus and Somnivore, so what could be better! Sample track for those who dare. ;-) |
