ZYWIOLAK for Folk-Metal?

ŻYWIOŁAK are a Polish band who should find their place here IMO. They are usually described as pagan folk-metal.

I'll check them out ... since the Folk Metal team is very inactive these days.

Is there still a Folk-Metal team here? If this is not the case, before we find some replacements (or additional members), we should probably rely on the judgment of those like Kim, who are willing to listen and evaluate any material at our disposal. 

As I said, I've got their full album at my disposal. If you think the myspace tracks aren't sufficient I will gladly upload it for you. Maybe it'll be more convincing. Just tell me who I am supposed to send it to.

I do believe they should find a place here.

in my humble two cents...  in the absence of a team.. and remembering this is a site in the infant stages.  I nominate Scott to be the judge. Tuz..  upload the album and send it to Scott.. if he thinks it belongs here. We'll add it. If Scott declines... I'll be the judge, jury, and executioner.

Oh, I thought you meant someone else. I didn't recall Rushfan liking metal.

Always trying to convince themselves that their music is the best (which is very far from being true) and even wanting to prove anyone else that other musical genres should be regarded as prog (Helloween, Stevie Wonder (!!!), Judas Priest, William Sheller). Why don't they call a cat a cat : Stevie Wonder = black music, Helloween = power metal, Judas Priest = heavy metal, William Sheller = chanson fran�aise...

proggers can actually be of some the most close-minded of musical listeners.

and that is an urban myth...   prog has BECOME a genre all it's own.. no different from punk, country or reggae.  We all know it.   Prog today is often progby the numbers. Insert song length... some degree of complexity.. and some fruity lyrics and voila.. you have prog.  The great stuff is the stuff that avoids the typical prog convention.. and is.. err.. progressive in it's approach to music. 

However by doing do...  some then can't see it as prog since it lacks....

hmmm.... going to listen to this a few more times before offering up an opinion.

To be bluntly honest... my first thought was a no for addition. You sure weren't bowled over by what you think of as 'metal'.    However while listening, I read up on the group a bit and sort of got an understanding of what they are trying to do. Sort of goes back to what I posted earlier about prog by the numbers. Does it have to be complex and have 'whizling synths' ( � Raffaella 2006 ) to be prog. Does it have to be guitar based to be metal.

Looks like I'm hitting the books to learn about folk-metal.   I'll be back to this group after some more reading and listening (including some other groups it appears).

Completely enjoyed the music though, whether 'metal' or not.
