Andy McCoy was born as Antti Hulkko in Finland 1962, but grew up and went to school in Stockholm, Sweden. This is why Andy actually speaks Swedish as his first language. During the childhood years in Stockholm, Andy - off course - played guitar and listened lots of different kind of music (mostly reggae and blues), but also played soccer pretty seriously in a team with his Jamaican born mates.
Just after Andy had turned 13, his family moved again - this time to Helsinki, Finland. It was pretty much a culture shock for young Andy, partly because the Swedish language his new Finnish friends spoke was quite different from the Swedish he was used to in Sweden. In school Andy most enjoyed drawing, music and languages, where he got some a levels to bring home.
