Battlefields was a sludge metal / post-metal band from Fargo in North Dakota and Minneapolis in Minnesota, active between 2006 and 2011.
Describing its own sound as “blackened metal hardcore”, Battlefields’ sludge is progressively inclined, hardcore-based and incorporates elements of post metal too, much in the vein of bands like Neurosis.
Battlefields first album was a shortish release from 2006, Stained With The Blood Of An Empire. In 2007 the single Entourage of the Archaic was released. Thresholds of Imbalance followed in 2009, after which Battlefields lost founding guitarist Andrew Wallin, and went on a brief hiatus from playing shows.
