Warthur
Another solid Paysage d'Hiver release, this one more or less consistently sticks to Paysage's distinctive black metal style, though there's always something interesting - a maudlin synthesiser line here, a backing guitar rhythm there - buried deep beneath the tempest-like wails of the main guitars. I have no idea what Wintherr is screaming about underneath all this, but regular listeners to Paysage know that that doesn't really matter - it's probably something to do with winter and ice and cold, but the real point of the album isn't the lyrical message, it's the atmosphere it conveys. A solid Paysage release, though a little too business as usual to sit in the top rank of Paysage albums.
