1967/ 1976
"Sunset Warrior" is the powerful magic album of Steel Crown a band from Trieste (one of the Italian capital of Metal!!!) and was published in 1987 by Apocalypse/ Discomagic by a great band with a great vocalist: Yaco De Bonis, one of the great Italian Rock voices. The style of Steel Crown is a pure Traditional eavy Metal, melodic but very powerful. In a good analysis Steel Crown is another band of Proto Power Metal.
The music is a mix between Judas Priest, UFO, Scorpions (of course) and Thrash Metal, but the voice of Yaco De Bonis is good also in comparison with vocalists as Klaus Meine but with great personality. The production was minimal: the drums is too high and this fact is not good. In fact the guitars parts of Frank Lewis are obscured, although actually present and very personal (with a better mix Manowar are a good example in this sense). All the album is good and today plays good. And I do not have a preferred song in "Sunset Warriors". Maybe it is great to listen to in a good manner guitar soli and double bass drums, as well (of course) to the vocal parts. discover, as well, a great band, very personal (to be yet another tribute band to Judas Priest, Scorpions, etc. ...) and very actual. In short, you'll discover a band that just listening can be understood.
Bad luck would have it, this great band had to disband in 1989. Yaco De Bonis died in a car accident on the way to a festival in Verona to play with Steel Crown. We lost (not just us Italians) a great band that had the good fortune of being Opening Act of Mercyful Fate in the Italian dates.
