ACYL (which means Genuine in Arabic) is an experimental / progressive ethnic metal band. ACYL was to emerge as a continuation of a previous project, MASS, which Amine (guitars, vocals, mandole, percussions, programming) was behind; one of the spearheads of the Algerian metal movement of the 1990s. Similarly working within this genre was the band WORTH, founded by Reda (guitars, traditional choirs). In 2006, Amine convinced Reda to create a new group, soon to be augmented by friend and session bassist Salah (bass, traditional choirs).
In 2007 the group met Michael (drums, percussions, traditional choirs) (formerly of MYST), a drummer well versed in progressive metal. In 2007 the idea for a new band was realised with the creation of Acyl.
Within two years, more than 20 titles were composed and recorded, the best of which formed the September 2010 EP, The Angel’s Sin. This was followed in July 2012 by
