Æbsence is a progressive metal band from Gödöllö in Hungary, that mixes progressive metal with some Hungarian folk elements. The band was formed in 1995 by Andras Perneczky (guitars) and Attila Mathe (drums). Laszlo Liwa (bass) joined soon afterwards, and Peter Budai (vocals) completed the line-up in 1997.
The band released a demo EP, Old, in 1999 followed by a one-track promo in 2000. Their full length debut, "Unusual", was an independent release from 2002. Since then Mathe has left the band, with Balazs Polgar (drums) replacing him in 2004. The band followed up their first album ten years later with the release of their second full-length, "...is dead", in 2012.
