ALTERED SYMMETRY is a progressive metal band from Bogota, Colombia. The band was founded on 2006 under the name ARTEMIST by Miguel Martinez and Julian Cadena. In 2008, the band took part in two of the most important festivals in the city of Bogota: “Rock bajo la septima” and “Exporock 2008”, and won out the best band award on both of them.
In January 2009 ARTEMIST released their first EP “No Regrets” to encouraging local and international review, followed in August by their six-song “Over Calculated Fear” EP.
During May 2010 with Arley Gomez as front man and while the band was working on their debut album, the band now known as ALTERED SYMMETRY released “Covered”. The EP was a four song release with covers from non-progressive bands, allowing ALTERED SYMMETRY to enhance the originals by adding some progressive elements.
In 2011 the band released “Prologue”, a full album with lyrics
