Aristaeus is a black metal band from Tulsa in Oklahoma. Formed in 1994 originally as a death metal band called Akeldama, they changed their name to Mournful Vengeance in 1999 as they moved in a more black metal direction.
Lineup changes and problems with creative differences forced Killian Thorn (guitars, drums, keyboards)and Heztael Tyrot (vocals) to turn the band into a studio project between the two of them. They changed the name to Aristaeus and re-released the demo Entitled Beyond the Tides in 2001, originally released under the Mournful Vengeance name.
