Assault was a Canadian speed/heavy metal act who released the album Survival in the Street in 1987. They turned towards thrash metal on their final release, the demo Slow Painful Death, released in 1988.
They are notable for being the previous band of former Annihilator drummer Ray Hartmann, who left Assault for Annihilator, an act which may have contributed to the former's demise. None of the other members were heard from again within the metal scene.
