Avatar is a melodic metalcore / death metal band from Craiova in Romania, formed in 1994.
Starting off as a blackened death metal band, Avatar released its debut album, The Alchemist, in 2000. The band then moved towards a melodic death metal sound. By the time the band had released its 2008 single, Pendulum, the music was much more in the melodic metalcore mould.
