Axis were a NWoBHM band from Stockton-on-Tees, England. Formed in 1978 they were one of Neat Records first signings. They recorded a single called "You Got It", which was never released.
Not to be confused with two other NWoBHM bands called Axis, or Axis from Stoke on Trent, who released The Black Rose and The Hunter EPs in the 2000s.
They released a single in 1980 and then, after composing another song called "Flame Burns On" which was featured on the Neat Records "Lead Weight" compilation, released in 1981 and the "60 Minutes Plus" compilation Tape in 1982 (later reissued on vinyl as "All Hell Let Loose") and the unauthorised MIS Records NWoBHM Vol.3 compilation.
Axis (Stockton) disbanded in 1981.
They are, perhaps, more famous for spawning future members of higher profile bands such as Samson, White Spirit and Tank to name but a few.
