Axxis is a band from Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany that has been active since 1988, releasing their debut album Kingdom of the Night (1989) the following year. It was the best selling hard rock debut album in their native Germany in 1989. Though their line-up has changed many times over the years the one constant has been frontman Bernhard Weiß, with keyboardist Harry Öllers being the second longest serving member, appearing with the band since the second Axxis album II (1990).
In their early days, Axxis were a hard rock band. As they went on though they began to explore more metal orientated territory and by the time of their eighth album Time Machine (2008) Axxis had evolved into a more power metal orientated band which was a sound they continued with until Kingdom of the Night II (2014), at which point they switched again to a more traditional heavy
