A kind of proto-NWoBHM band, Bad Axe formed in the U.S. in 1976, taking their moniker from their impossibly aptly named home town in L.A.
The music of interest from this band is their single released in 1977, rather than the rather Zeppelin-flavoured album from the year before (which in itself makes a change from the Glam-charged rock so prevalent in that area at the time).
The sleeve of the single also features an extremely NWoBHM home-made looking cover, displaying that all-important Letraset Gothic Script writing.
Bad Axe is most famous for featuring Dana Strum on bass; Strum would later achieve fame with Slaughter. The other members of the group were David Carruth on guitar, Stacy Moreland on vocals, and Steve Ward on drums. David joined the band soon after moving to L.A. in 1976 and stayed with the group until 1980, when he left to join Bitch.
