The band Bitch was formed by guitarist David Carruth and Robby Settles in September 1980. Notorious frontwoman Betsy Bitch (real name Betsy Weiss), joined the band in December 1980, after being the only female singer to reply to an ad in Music Connection. The band already had a female guitarist, who was unhappy about a second bitch joining the band, and subsequently quit.
Bitch began rehearsing and playing shows, with their first show being at The Troubador on Friday, May 1, 1981. The band shared the bill that night with Dante Fox, who would later become Great White. Bitch courted notoriety with Betsy’s dominatrix-like live performances. The band’s lyrics also deal humorously with bondage and sadomasochism. Bitch contributed the track “Live for the Whip” to the Metal Massacre 1 compilation, taken from their first four song demo. The band also contributed the song "Riding in Thunder" to Metal Massacre
