Black Gates is an American thrash-speed-power metal group comprising ex-members of Whitesnake, Anthrax, Testament, Slayer, Exodus and Forbidden.

"BlackGates is a powerful new addition to the heavy metal community. This four-piece band consists of veteran metal drummer Paul Bostaph (Testament/ex-Slayer, Exodus, Forbidden), bassist Uriah Duffy (ex-Whitesnake), guitarist Jeremy Von Epp (The Venting Machine) and vocalist Dan Nelson (ex-Anthrax). These four musicians came together as BlackGates in late 2009 and began to jam and write original music. The band's vision from day one was to be an honest band, to re-explore classic elements in metal that they all felt had been missing for a long time, and to remain as heavy and catchy as humanly possible.
