Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E. is an American west coast hip-hop group from Carson, California formed in 1988. They're made up of all brothers and originally called themselves The Blue City Crew, but renamed to Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E. before their first release. They released their debut album, New Funky Nation, in 1990. T.R.I.B.E. stands for Too Rough International Boo-Yaa Empire.
After a couple more albums, the band released Angry Samoans, which saw them adapt a rap metal sound, though they'd go back to a west coast hip-hop/gangsta rap style on the next album. Ted Devoux (Samoan Godfather) died in 2018.
The band was among the first hip hop bands to crossover with metal, with the song Pickin' Up Metal from New Funky Nation and has collaborated with metal bands such as Faith No More and P.O.D.
