Brunel were a NWoBHM band from London who formed in 1978 and disbanded in 1983.
In the early years, the band consisted of lead guitarists George Cook and Keith Haggis, vocalist Nobby, drummer Julis Gamski, and bassist Peter Franich. The band performed regularly in and around South London pubs and colleges – with a residency at the Two Brewers pub. Notably, the band had a very large biker following at one time.
Brunel was the first band to sign with Gateway Studios, Clapham, which had just upgraded from 4 to 8 track recording. The studio went on to become the Gateway School of Music.
The original lineup released one single, Don't Call Us We'll Call You / Heroes. Cook states "Don't Call Us Well Call You" was a satire on the Two Brewers pub in Clapham High Street - which had "kept knocking the band back" – ironically, the
