Cassiopeia was an atmospheric/symphonic metal band that was formerly known as Tremor. The name was changed in 1998. Cassiopeia went on to release two EPs; Eye of Time (1999) and Duality (2001). In 2002, guitarist Ad Sluijter and drummer Jeroen Simons left the band to join Dutch symphonic metal band Epica. Cassiopeia continued for a while with new musicians, but more and more as a project than a band. The decision was taken to wind up Cassiopeia and launch a new progressive metal band, Satinoxide.
