Constrito was a sludgy mathcore / powerviolence band from São Paulo in Brazil.
Constrito was founded by Pierre Kerchove (guitar) and Gabriel Godoy Castanho (drums) in 1996, when the band released two demo tapes: “Nem ordem, Nem progresso”, and "Constrito".
By 1999 the band played on the Verdurada festival in Brazil and toured the major Brazilian cities of Curitiba, Joinville and Santos. Shortly after, their third demo was released, a live recording of a reharsal, and the band played several hardcore feltivas around Brazil: Festival Hardcore de São Paulo, Festival Hardcore Solidariedade, Dias de Criar, Crimedéia, Verduradas (Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo, Pindamonhangaba), Calientes Fest (Joinville), Rancor Fest and Carnaval Revolução (Belo Horizonte).
Constrito made a deal with Liberation Records to release their debut album “Um fio de vida no círculo da morte” in 2001.
Constrito split up in 2007.
