Cranium is a technical progressive metal band from Reno, Nevada. Cranium that started as a duo in 1995. At that time, guitar player Ryan Hall and drummer Jason Thomas formed the nucleus of the band untill bass player Dave Adams joined in 1996. Adams soon left and was replaced by Asa Dakin in 1997. With this line-up, the band recorded their debut Pragmatics in 2001 for Cranialgalactic Music.
In 2005, Dave ADAMS rejoined to contribute on the follow-up Phantasmagoria, released by SNP Records in 2008.
Cranium plays instrumental progressive metal with a solid technical thrash metal foundation and notable jazz/fusion influences. Their progressive influences range from Rush and King Crimson to Meshuggah and Mahavishnu Orchestra.
