Crimson Sun was founded in 2001 in Hamina by Joni Junnila (guitars) and Teemu Hankanen (vocals & guitars). Later Tomi Paronen (drums) and Jukka Jauhiainen (bass) joined the band, and the first gigs were made in 2003 under the name ”Lucretia”. After some line-up changes in 2004 the guitarist Joni and Jonne Taavitsainen, who was at the time playing drums in the band, decided that the band’s aims were higher than playing just as a hobby. In 2005 the band performed as a supporting act for Pelle Miljoona in Hamina under the name ”Cryptic”. At that time the band was searching for a new singer and after many candidates’s Sini Hanttu joined the band. The first gig with a new line up was in the winter 2005 in a band competition at ”Seukkarit” and the band shared the first place in the audience voting.
