Damascus is an instrumental atmospheric sludge metal / post-rock band from South River in New Jersey
Formed in January 2011, four friends from New Jersey began writing music and rehearsing as Emergency Action Plan before changing their name to Damascus.
The band consists of Brendan Banowicz (Drums), George Eppinger (Guitar), Gil Morejón (Guitar) and Edwin Rivera (Bass). In May 2011 they released their debut EP, Salutations, Distant Satellite! , followed in the same year by their follow up EP, Of Whom I Always Think. In November 2012, Damascus released a third EP; prière d'espoir.
Citing influences from Mastodon, Rosetta and Russian Circles to Explosions In The Sky, the group’s sound is a distinctly heavy approach to post-rock.
