Derringer was an American hard rock band from New York City formed in 1976 by guitarist Rick Derringer. The band featured future Black Sabbath and Dio drummer Vinny Appice, and their 1977 album Sweet Evil blends in heavy metal and funk rock elements similar to the Coverdale-era Deep Purple albums. Appice and guitarist Danny Johnson left after the aforementioned album to form the band Axis. Derringer disbanded in 1983.
