Descent into Madness is a gothic-tinged female fronted progressive thrash metal band from Houston in Texas.
Formed in 2001, Descent into Madness released several gothic metal EPs/demos with mid-tempo effect-laden traditional song structures.
Guitarists Alex K. and Claudio Lassala both wanted to explore heavier, more progressive music with a mix of harsh and melodic vocals and auditioned Jennifer Lazure to provide the melodic vocals to counter Alex's agressive ones.
Rites Of Illusion, released in 2005, provided the watershed between the original gothic metal sound of the band and the progressive thrash metal the band now plays.
