Merging the harp with power metal, DragonHarp was formed in Milan, Italy in 2011 by harpist Rossana Monico.
Monico started studying the Celtic harp at age 12, and progressed to master-classes of traditional Irish music for harp with several teachers. In 2011 she finished studying at the Conservatorio G.Verdi in Milano, also graduating in bassoon. She founded the Green Circle Association of traditional music for Irish harp. DragonHarp came about from a desire to mix metal with harp music.
The band's name comes not just from the harp in the band, but is a play on the film title "Dragonheart".
