Driveshaft was a NWOBHM band formed in 1980 in Cork, Ireland. The band underwent many lineup changes and has featured many well known artists, such as Neil Murray (of Whitesnake, Gogmagog and Peter Gordelier of Marquis de Sade, Angel Witch, Blind Fury.
The band's official releases include two singles, and a live EP. Heartbreaker is perhaps their best known work.
Band leader Gerry Lane had previously played with GARY MOORE, whilst John Hennessy was former SLEDGEHAMMER and Waxman was in LAST FLIGHT prior to DRIVESHAFT.
At one stage DRIVESHAFT employed Australian guitarist Jamie Page, a veteran of BLACK ALICE and TRILOGY. Page also featured on COZY POWELL's 'The Drums Are Back' album, co-composing two tracks 'Shout' and 'Cryin'. This line-up of DRIVESHAFT recorded material for an album featuring guests COZY POWELL, WHITESNAKE bassist Neil Murray and OZZY OSBOURNE keyboard player John Sinclair. The album was never released.
