Based in Chicago, Illinois, progressive metal band Empyrean Sanctum was founded by guitarist and keyboardist Justin Kellerman to convey fantasy-based concepts involving personal struggle through technically complex music.
Influenced by a diverse range of progressive metal bands including Dream Theater, Meshuggah, Symphony X, Ayreon, Andromeda, and Scar Symmetry, Empyrean Sanctum merges melodic vocals and instrumental interplay with aggressive technical displays. Their debut self-titled full length album was released on 12th November 2013.
