ESTYGYA is a progressive metal band from Barcelona, Spain. The band was formed in late 2009 with a view to producing progressive metal influenced neo-progressive rock. The first line up of Estygya was Alberto del Canto (drums and percussion), Luis del Canto (guitars), Xavi Gallego (bass and vocals) and Pedro Cobo (keyboards), who left in 2004.
In March 2000 Estygya won a local music competition before recording their first two tracks, "On the Grass" and "Woman of My Disaster". In September 2001 Estygya recorded and produced their debut self-titled EP. The band released their first album, a rock opera titled 'Los Ojos Verdes' (The Green Eyes) in 2007.
The band cites a diverse range of influences from Mike Oldfield, Yes and Pink Floyd to Dream Theater, Pain of Salvation, Symphony X and Metallica.
