Evil Bards is a gothic melodic death metal band from Monza, Lombardy, Italy formed back in February 1998.
The band describes its history: During almost 15 years of activity, some changes in the line-up took place, as it often happens, and so, only one of the original band-members (Rig, drums) is still present in the Italian combo.
From an initial thrash/death oriented sound, Evil Bards’ music grows into a melodic death metal rich in Scandinavian inspired motifs, with heavy influences by gothic and old doom metal style.
The lyrics, written by Rig, range from introspective personal thoughts to the romantic tales of the XIX century, passing through northern and epic sagas. .... After two demotapes (September 1998 and summer 1999) Evil Bards are ready to their first album recording experience: from December 1999 to May 2000, the band records its first full length, called "Prelude to Sadness" which had good reviews worldwide.
