The Firstborn is a band from Portugal, formed in 1995. Nowadays, they play a characteristic and original brand of modern metal, accompanied by traditional Asian music influences and refreshing sources of inspiration: Buddhist scriptures on The Noble Search, and the Tibetan Book of the Dead on The Unclenching of the Fists. Their overall sound is still being debated, but great similarities lie in melodic death metal, black metal and the rather raw and atmospheric kinds of progressive metal.
1995 – Band formed; recorded the very first song in December for a participation in the “Southern Assault vol. 1” sampler CD (Guardians of Metal 1996 / as “Firstborn Evil”).
1996 – A 4 song demo-tape called “Awakening of Evil” was recorded (Sword Prod. 1997 / as “Firstborn Evil”).
1997 – Another song recorded for the “Sometimes... Death is Better” sampler CD (Shiver Rec. 1997 / as “Firstborn Evil”).
1998 – Debut
