Forsaken consisting of Leo Stivala(vocals), Tony Azzopardi(bass), Kevin Azzopardi(guitars), Kay Schembri(keyboards) and Simeon Gatt(drums) started out as Blind Alley in 1990 playing progressive metal in Malta's underground music scene. The band adopted the epithet Forsaken when bassist Albert Bell joined the band in 1991 and started writing new material from an array of metal sub-genres influences. After numerous live shows locally the band recorded a demo, "Requiem" at the end of 1991 and garnered interest from French label Arkham and released the EP "Virtues Of Sanctity" in the summer of 1992. The next couple of years the band toured relentlessly with some personnel changes as the keyboards were dropped from the band in favour of a stronger guitar riffed sound with new guitarists Daniel Magri and Sean Vukovic who replaced Kevin Azzopardi.
