Coming from the Motor City madness, formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1967, Frijid Pink played a trashy, noisy blues/boogie based rock with acid/psych and hard rock with punches of proto-punk but was over shadowed by the MC5, The Stooges, The Bob Seger System, The Amboy Dukes and Alice Cooper in the late 60's/early 70's.
The band struck it big with thier heavy metal version of The Animals, "The House Of The Risng Sun" in 1970. The band actually had four and half minutes of tape at the end of thier recording session for thier self-titled debut and did a one-take of the song. The single reached the top 10 in the US and sold over a million copies. Actually the band was so popular in 1970 in Detroit that Led Zeppelin opened up for them in the Motor City.
