Grabesmond was founded by Austrian musicians Richard "Protector" Lederer (Summoning) and Peter Kubik (Abigor) in 1995, playing neoclassical darkwave. Together they put out a single demo, In schwindendem Licht (1995) before splitting up to focus on their main bands.
In 1996 Grabesmond was taken over by Swedish musician Lucia-Mariam Fåroutan-Kubik (Heidenreich), Peter's wife. Despite the two founding members no longing being involved, the two Grabesmond's are considered the same entity.
Lucia-Mariam made two albums under the Grabesmond moniker; Mordenheim (1997) and Xenoglossie (1999). The project has since been ended.
Although all three members of Grabesmond have been in black metal bands Grabesmond has been included in the MMA as a Metal Related act because of Lucia-Mariam Fåroutan-Kubik's connection to Heidenreich, act act which also featured Peter Kubik.
