Green River is an American grunge band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1983. The band released their debut EP Come on Down in 1985, which is often considered to be one of the earliest grunge releases with its blend of 70's punk and metal. The band broke up in 1988 after the release of their debut album Rehab Doll, and members of the band would go on to form other bands in the Seattle scene such as Mudhoney, Mother Love Bone, and Pearl Jam.
The band reunited in 2008 and has since played several live shows.
