Hammerbox was a grunge band from Seattle, Washington formed around 1989/1990. They released their debut on the independent label C/Z Records, and released their follow-up, Numb, on the major label A&M. However, Numb didn't sell well, and the band was dropped from the label.
Bassist James Atkins left the band in 1994, and the rest of the band broke up soon after. The band had a brief reunion in 2004, with a live album following a year later. James Atkins died in 2016 from esophageal cancer.
In October 2021, a single was released featuring unreleased material recorded in 1990. It was released as part of an IndieGogo fund by Latent Print Records.
