Hydra was a short-lived progressive metal band from Monterrey, México. Formed by the guitarists Luis Ortiz and Carlos Aréchica, the drummer Jorge Perez and the vocalist Marcela Bovio in 1995, Hydra was simply a way for the members to play covers songs from artists they liked and admired. After a number of line-up changes and deciding to play and compose original pieces, Hydra started to define themselves musically in 1998, when they had the opportunity to record their first demo song, entitled Cuarto de Control, in March of that year.
In the following year, the band welcomed a new member, the keyboard player Alejandro Millán. Still in 1999, they recorded the EP Bosquejo, their only output.
