Illuminata is an Austrian symphonic metal band, with power metal elements, formed in 2006 by guitarist Luki Knoebl and drummer David Trummer. Their initial lineup was completed with the addition of Katarzyna Nieniewska (Vocals, Flute), Joanna Nieniewska (Vocals) Christoph Vide (Bass) and Sabrina Supan (Keyboards). All their releases to date feature dual female lead vocals.
In 2008 they released their full length debut titled From the Chalice of Dreams. Shortly after, Joanna left the band, and was replaced by Lisa Tomantschger. In 2009 they released an EP titled A Frame of Beauty. The next year, Lisa and Dave both left the band, and formed a new band called Everlasting Dawn. Dave was replaced by Tom Kern, while Joanna returned to the band.
In 2011 they released their second album titled A World So Cold. Shortly after, Joanna left the band again, and this time the band decided to continue
