IV LUNA is a progressive metal band from Rome, Italy. The band was formed in the autumn of 1994 under the moniker of NERIENE by Laki Chessa (lead guitar), Mik Chessa (vocals, guitar) and Andrea BJ Caminiti (bass). A few months later, Alex Juilius Giulani joined the band on drums. In the winter of 1996, after the release of their first self titled demo tape; they changed their name to IV LUNA (Latin for "fourth day of the crescent moon").
In the spring of 1997, IV LUNA recorded a three track Promo and would send this to various radio stations, magazines, and record companies. Due to some airplay on the radio, they were invited to appear at several local festivals. In April of 1999, they recorded their debut album, Liberamente (Free Mind), which was self produced in collaboration with B&B Productions. The band describes the music as, " a bold
