Lord is a Hungarian hard rock band. The band started in Szombathely, Hungary in 1972, when two members, László Papp guitarist and bass guitarist Ferenc Vida, of the band Red Fire, a band playing covers, was joined by vocalist Ernő Sipőcz and drummer István Sütő. The band was named after a brand of cigarette called Lord. At the beginning of the year 1974, Papp and Sütő left the band, to be replaced by Károly Nádas and Gyula Szántai. The band though still playing covers by such bands as Deep Purple, Nazareth Sweet, Slade, Led Zeppelin, Kiss, started to focus on composing original songs. Their first song was titled Rakétamotor. In 1980 Szántai left the band to be replaced by Attila Erős and the band was also joined by organ player József Török, those two making a powerful songwriter duo.
