Mammoth was an atmospheric sludge metal / post metal / post-rock band from Christchurch in New Zealand, formed in 2006.
Between 2006 and 2008 the band concentrated on writing and recording what would become its debut EP, gaining and losing band members on the way.
The band released their self-titled debut on February 2009. The band cites Isis, Jakob and Cult of Luna among its most important influences.
