Matricide is a metalcore band from Hod HaSharon in Israel.
The band was formed in 2004 by Yogev Sitton and Auria Sapir, and is currently considered to be among Israel's leading Metal/Hardcore acts. Matricide combines the speed and aggression of death metal and the stomp grooves of nu-metal, along with the attitude and aesthetics of hardcore, and epic melodies.
Lyrically speaking, most of the band's songs deal with profound and thought-provoking philosophical and spiritual matters. The band's name, Matricide, references the way that man is slowly killing off Mother Earth.
Matricide has shared stages in Israel with bands such as Behemoth and Down, and played in many festivals and shows throughout Europe. The band has toured with Orphaned Land, Cryptopsy, Disgorge, Jungle Rot, Klone, The Mars Chronicles, Khalas and others.
In 2013 Matricide followed up on its 2008 EP with its album debut, called "When Random Turns To Fate".
