In 2008, they changed their name to Steel Panther. Before that, they were known as Metal Skool, an 80's glam metal parody and cover band which performs regular weekly shows in Hollywood and Las Vegas.
Originally formed as Danger Kitty, their first "claim to fame" was in a Discover Card commercial under that name and released a single for the song 'Love Rocket'.
They changed their name to Metal Shop, and began selling out regular weekly shows in the Hollywood and L.A. areas.
In 2003, the band released their first album, "Hole Patrol". The album was covered in perverse and funny lyrics, including comedy routines between tracks. With only a limited release, it quickly sold out.
Problems with management led to the band dropping the Metal Shop name, as the management owned the rights to it. Metal Skool became their new and current name.
