MIND GATE is a progressive metal band from Katowice, Poland formed in January of 2000 by Mateusz Maciejewski (guitar) and Mikolaj Marcela (drums). Soon they were joined by Maciek Czarski (guitar) and Jan Lorek (bass). The band was known as CANDLEKEEPER and they covered the compositions of beloved hard and heavy metal artists like LED ZEPPELIN, BLACK SABBATH, and IRON MAIDEN. After seven months of rehearsal the band became fascinated with DREAM THEATER and their many side projects and decided to add keyboards to their compositions. Maciek became the keyboardist and within the next few months the band changed their name to MIND GATE and started writing progressive metal compositions which led to a 60 minute demo "Forgotten Odyssey." "Forgotten Odyssey" was meant to be enhanced with vocals, but the band wasn't able to find anyone talented enough.
