Muad'dib was a 5-piece (straight edge) hardcore/ melodic death metal band from Münster,Germany that startedin 2001. They have released one demo (2006) and a EP named "The Spark Marks The End" (2002) on beniihana records. They split up in 2008. Band members were: Reimut van Bonn, Hendrik Höfener, Tim Kockentiedt, Andre Eissing, Flint Stelter, Tim Börsting, Johannes Schulte, Markus Zovak, Christoph Kostersitz.
The name "Muad'dib" is derived from the name the (main) character of Paul Atreides gives himself in Frank Herbert's epic Science Fiction saga "Dune" (1st Book). The language is Fremen, the people that live on Arakis (Dune) and refers to a nimble desert mouse living there.
Other bands/artists that have named themselves after terms in the Dune saga are Shai Hulud, Sardaukar and Vladimir Harkonnen
